2020: The Year In Review

It has been quite a year.

To be sure, 2020 has held its share of challenges. But our industry has seen its share of silver linings as well, as we’ve embraced the opportunities inherent in our new virtual work world. In fact, looking back on our own 2020 memories here at LeO, we’re struck by just how much we’ve accomplished this year…

  • IBM Demo Day. Remember doing things in person? In late January, such things were still possible, and we proudly took the stage as part of IBM’s Alpha Zone program. Our participation in Demo Day was a great opportunity to share LeO’s success!

  • The New Normal. As the insurance industry transitioned into a remote working enterprise in March and April, LeO was there, helping agents to manage customer care gaps and strengthen client relationships during troubled times through our AI platform that combines BI and AI conversational capabilities.

  • InsurTech Israel Virtual Exhibition. OK, so the live stage thing was short-lived. But by May, we’d figured out how to make conferences virtual, and we were thrilled to join some of the leading Israeli insurtech companies to explore the intersection between insurance, technology and innovation and the future of insurtech in the US.

  • Property Casualty 360 article. As the pandemic took hold, insurance carriers and agencies found that there had never been a better time to transition their organizations to modern, digital business models. In June, our CEO, Liri Halperin, was featured in a Property Casualty 360 article about how embracing new technology could help insurance organizations to thrive, even in these daunting times.

  • BrokerTech’s Insurtech Israel Virtual Roadshow. June also brought us to the - USA Showcase Fueled by BrokerTech Ventures. This event featured 14 insurtechs pitching ideas, as well as remarks by thought leaders – including our own Liri Halperin.

  • Agency Nation collaboration. Liri Halperin joined the ranks of Agency Nation contributors this summer, lending her industry expertise and perspective in a series of regular columns about the agent experience. Her bi-monthly columns have addressed all aspects of sales, marketing and data to help agents achieve success through technology.

  • Vertafore’s The Summer of Accelerate. We were pleased to be part of this Vertafore summer series with our own NetVU session. Our esteemed panelists included Dana Coates and Frank Sentner, who participated in a lively conversation with Liri Halperin about how to automate your agency with an AI virtual assistant.

  • First Annual Dive In Israel. We were so proud to be organizers of a Dive In event at the Dive In Festival for Diversity and Inclusion in Insurance in September. Our panel discussion, Women in Insurance Technology: How Diverse Talent Creates Global Impact, featured a thoughtful conversation with female leaders from LeO, AIG Israel, Willis Towers Watson and ACORD about how women and other diverse talents will help drive the future of the global insurance market.

  • ITC Global. October found us featured as a startup to watch at InsureTech Connect – another terrific global gathering (conducted virtually, of course). It brought back fond memories of being on the stage in Las Vegas last year with ACORD’s Bill Pieroni and Amy Zupon of Vertafore -- while we hope to be back in person soon, we were honored to showcase our capabilities and connect with industry leaders through our virtual kiosk this year.

Not bad for a year in which we mostly worked virtually with our families underfoot! 2020 wasn’t always fun, but even during this year of challenges that we never could have imagined, we’ve accomplished far more than we ever could have hoped. Along the way, we’ve gotten some terrific press, worked with some fantastic advisors (special thanks to Frank Sentner!), and laid the foundation for some really exciting partnerships. More details to come about these new opportunities shortly… stay tuned as we really hit our stride in 2021!
